Sew As Desired

This week I made HST's and added them to the top and bottom of my project.  I had to add an inch to each end of the top and bottom rows because the braids that I made are 5" wide (finished) and my HST's are 4" wide (finished)  and my starting block is 16" (finished).   So I did whatever I could do the easiest way to make it all fit.  What will happen next week?  I don't want to think about it right now.  lol.   Well, that is part of the fun of it.  Figuring it out as we go along.    

 I chose to do Braid for this prompt.  I haven't sewn it onto the center block yet because I kinda want to see what comes next and do I want the braid on the sides or on the top and bottom of the first block?  I thought about putting braid all the way around but I think it would overpower the center block.  

 This orphan block is what I chose to start out with for this SAHRR.  It was a free project called Nested Churn Dash.  I started making the block but got distracted to other projects before finishing it. My block is 16.5x16.5.   I had it in a box with other fabrics I had gathered to eventually make it bigger.     Looking forward to the first pattern.
